The Lehigh Valley Engineering Council (www.LVEngineer.org) will kick off National Engineers' Week activities with their annual banquet on Friday, February 24th at the Holiday inn Conference Center at Route 100 in Breinigsville, PA. The LVPSPE will recognize the Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year recipients during the banquet.
The expected featured speaker for the evening is Brock E. Barry, P.E., Ph.D., F.ASCE; Associate Professor and Mechanics Group Director, Department of Civil & Mechanical Engineering, United States Military Academy, West Point. He will be presenting "Did You Really Mean to Say That" Nonverbal Communication in the Workplace." A reported 93% of all face-to-face communication occurs nonverbally. Much of the nonverbal communication we project outwardly, as well as the nonverbal communication we interpret as projected by others, is done-so without conscious effort. What if we missed out on a large portion of the nonverbal communication that is ongoing around us? Is it possible that we could become more effective and more efficient in our work-place communication by being more in-tune with nonverbal communication? Dr. Barry will provide us with an entertaining, yet instructive adventure into this important element of communication.

The evening will begin at 6:00 with a cocktail hour with cash bar. This will be followed by dinner at 7:00. The meal choices are Chicken Breast with Brie, Caramelized Onions & Rosemary-Thyme Au Jus; Sliced Tenderloin with Demi-Glace (Gluten free); Pan Seared Salmon with Dill Cream Sauce (Gluten free); Gemelli Pasta with Squash, Tomato, Roasted Red Pepper & Basil Cream Sauce. The Awards Ceremony will be at 8:00 immediately followed by the speaker.
Early Registration is $35 per attendee or $20 per student attendee. If payment is received between February 10th and February 17th the price per attendee is $45. Please consider donating $15 to sponsor a student. Please note that all no-shows will be billed $45 (actual meal cost). Remember to qualify for the Early Registration price payment needs to be received before end of day on February 10th.
