The Lehigh Valley Engineering Council (www.lvengineeringcouncil.org) will kick off National Engineers' Week activities with their annual banquet on Friday, February 23rd at ArtsQuest at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA. The LVPSPE will recognize the Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year recipients during the banquet.
The expected featured speaker for the evening is Barry L. Shoop. He is the Professor of Electrical Engineering and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The topic of his presentation will be "Innovation as an Ecosystem." Disruptive technologies (e.g. smart phones) fundamentally change the value proposition in a market according to a distinct pathology. In addition to understanding disruptive innovations, it is equally important to understand the human dimension of technology innovation – how social, cultural, and religious factors impact the acceptance or rejection of technological innovation. Beyond the technological and human dimensions, it is equally important to develop both the organizational structure and organizational culture dimensions that encourage and support an ecosystem of innovation. Early Registration before the end of February 9th is $35 per attendee or $20 per student attendee. If payment is received between February 10th and February 20th the price per attendee is $45. Please consider donating $15 to sponsor a student. Please note that all no-shows will be billed $45 (actual meal cost).
